Digital Workers vs Autonomous Agents
A Digital Worker is a deterministic software entity that executes work within explicit boundaries: a contract, a memory substrate, and a permission envelope. It does not pursue self-generated goals. It performs tasks, records outcomes, and improves through externally governed feedback loops.
An Autonomous Agent, by contrast, is a system designed to plan, decide, and act toward internally generated objectives. It is often framed as adaptive or self-directing, but in practice this autonomy introduces instability, unpredictability, and governance risk at scale.
How This Differs From Autonomous Agents
